We seek a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ by observance of Apostolic Tradition and the teachings of the Church Fathers, reaching the Orthodox faithful and seeking spiritual growth by traditional means and by maintaining a robust digital presence.

Education

  • In addition to the weekly homily during Divine Liturgy, on most Sundays Father David offers an interactive catechism class during coffee hour.  Topics have included specific books from the Bible, Saints, sacraments, fasting, and Father David’s version of “Ask Me Anything.” The setting is very casual and begins after everyone has had time to visit, get a cup of coffee and a bite to eat.  Questions and interaction are encouraged!

  • On Tuesdays at 7:00 PM, Father David leads a class on the Orthodox Faith.  This class has served as an Introduction to Orthodoxy for catechumens and those new to or interested in Orthodoxy.  However, the classes are much more expansive than a simple introduction and are attended by newcomers and cradle Orthodox alike. The classes are held live in the church, but they are also available by Zoom for those that live farther away or that cannot make it to the church. Contact Father David (970) 846-2245 with questions or form more information, or click here to join us by Zoom.

  • Saint John’s now has a bookstore where you can buy or borrow Orthodox Study Bibles, various books about our faith and the lives of the Saints, icons, incense, censers, and other items. Contact Lee Dockins (928) 846-9446 with any questions or to request any specific books that we may be able to order at cost.

  • We publish a weekly newsletter that includes both a reflection from Father David, a brief message on the faith called “Food for the Soul”, and announcements about upcoming services and events. You can view the newsletter and subscribe here.
